Philips Avent and March of Dimes Team Up

Partnership to Improve Maternal Health Education via Pregnancy+ App

28 May 2025

Global health tech leader Philips and maternal health nonprofit March of Dimes collaborate to deliver life-saving information to millions of expectant families.

In a powerful move to strengthen maternal and infant health outcomes, Royal Philips and March of Dimes have announced a strategic collaboration focused on expanding access to critical pregnancy-related education through the Philips Avent Pregnancy+ app—the world’s most downloaded pregnancy app with over 80 million lifetime downloads.

This initiative brings March of Dimes’ trusted, research-backed content into the digital hands of millions of users, offering timely guidance on essential topics such as preterm birth, NICU preparation, vaccinations, and preventive treatments like low-dose aspirin—a key focus of the nonprofit’s Low Dose, Big Benefits campaign. This campaign aims to raise awareness about the role of aspirin, when clinically appropriate, in reducing the risk of hypertensive disorders such as preeclampsia, a leading cause of maternal and neonatal complications.

“As we continue to seek solutions to address maternal health challenges, initiatives like this can contribute to meaningful change,” said Brenda Kapner, Regional Business Unit Leader, Mother & Childcare at Philips North America. “By combining our expertise and resources with those of March of Dimes, we aim to deliver accessible education and insights, while utilizing advanced data analysis to better understand and meet the needs of mothers and babies.”

The Pregnancy+ app already provides expectant parents with an immersive experience that includes a weekly pregnancy tracker, medically reviewed articles, lifelike 3D fetal development imagery, and expert-led courses. By integrating March of Dimes’ content directly into the platform, Philips is making high-quality maternal health education more accessible—particularly for underserved populations that may lack easy access to in-person care.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to ensuring families have access to trusted, timely information throughout pregnancy,” said Kelly Ernst, Senior Vice President and Chief Impact Officer at March of Dimes. “Whether it’s through our Mom and Baby Mobile Health Centers® or expanding digital health literacy via the Pregnancy+ app, we’re meeting families where they are. Initiatives like this represent a meaningful step forward in our mission to improve health outcomes for all moms and babies.”

In addition to content integration, the partnership will explore data-driven research opportunities, leveraging anonymized app usage data and in-app surveys to identify trends and address information gaps. These insights could inform future campaigns and support March of Dimes’ advocacy and research priorities.

For Philips, the collaboration is part of a broader mission to improve the lives of 2.5 billion people per year by 2030, including 400 million in underserved communities. By combining advanced technology with public health expertise, the company aims to build impactful digital health ecosystems that address the full continuum of care—from pregnancy to parenthood.

As maternal health challenges continue to grow in complexity, digital platforms like Pregnancy+ represent a critical tool for delivering inclusive, scalable support. This collaboration between Philips and March of Dimes sets a new benchmark for how public-private partnerships can drive tangible improvements in health equity and outcomes for families worldwide.
